This shot doesn't need a lot of comment. I like cockpit shots and this one puts you directly into action. Imagine yourself flying in a F-18 with your wingman on your left side just above the clouds. Free like a bird!
It reminds me of a quote I found in a book.
"Suddenly the Mach needle...went up to .995 Mach - then tipped right off the scale... We were flying supersonic. And it was smooth as a baby's bottom."
General Charles "Chuck" Yeager, on his first supersonic flight in the Bell X-1.
I will post some quotes from famous aviation pioneers this week...Hope you like it!

Nice shot, as usual. Pretty sure you meant to type 'Hornet' though. Also, the jet off his wing is a legacy F/A-18, not a Super Hornet, and the pilot taking the pic isn't wearing a JHMCS so it's likely not a Super Hornet either. Hope you don't take this as me being a jerk, I just thought you'd want to keep the site accurate. Keep up the great work, I stop by here all the time for wallpaper for my new widescreen monitor.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you correct me, because I don't have any idea what the difference is between Super Hornet and Hornet. So thank you for the correction...
I checked, and these fighters are assigned to the “Gunslingers” of Strike Fighter Squadron One Zero Five (VFA-105).
ReplyDeletemy mistake...
Glad to help. I was trying not to sound like I was insulting you or anything, I just thought you should know. Keep up the awesome, awesome work you do! The orange filter pics of the A-10s this week is my favorite non F-14 pic yet. Always glad to see Tomcat shots, if you take requests! Thanks again for what you do.
