When you look at the C-5 Galaxy and compare it to what the Wright brothers flew, it's amazing how far we've come in such a short period in history.
As a funny note, do you know one of the nicknames for this plane? It's called the "Aluminum Overcast".
When I was in the 82nd in 1977 I took a course at Pope AFB to teach us how to load and balance aircraft, one of the nicknames that had for the C-5 was "FRED" (Foolishly Ridiculous Economic Disaster). I was scary as all hell jumping this plane...16 times!
