Ice Hornets -- Amazing Video of Swiss F/A-18 Fighters

Friday Video: Belgian Air Force F-16 Demo Aviation Nation Las Vegas 2008

I couldn't make it out to Las Vegas in time for this year's Aviation Nation air show at Nellis, but some videos are the next best thing. This year Nellis hosted the Belgium F-16 Demo team and these guys put on an amazing demo. Enjoy!

Not to be outdone, check out the Royal Netherlands Air Force Demo team as well!

Friday Video: Flying Backseat in an F-15E Strike Eagle

Ever wanted to fly in an F-15E Strike Eagle? Well, here's your chance. Check it out.

Friday Video: F-15 Eagle West Coast Demo Team

Here's some great F-15 Eagle flying from the West Coast Demo team. A slick Eagle has impressive power and this video shows it to you.

Friday Video: F-22 Raptor Demo

If you can't get enough of the F/A-22 Raptor, check out this airshow demonstration video. You'll see some of the greatest flying you can get with this amazing aircraft. The F-22 is a game-changer.

Friday Video: The YF-23 and Test Pilot Comments

I worked at Northrop during the time the ATF competition was in full swing. I remember watching the videos and getting the promo materials on the YF-23. Today's video is all about the YF-23 with commentary by test pilot Paul Metz.

When I look at the YF-23, it reminds me of the SR-71. I wanted it to win the competition but it lost out to the YF-22, which we know today as the F/A-22 Raptor. In the end, the F/A-22 is an incredible plane, but I still wish some F-23s would have been built.

Friday Video: F-16C Engine Start

When you watch all that goes into starting an F-16, it will make you appreciate how easy cars are to drive.

friday Video: Leeuwarden Airshow

Here is the video report from the Leeuwarden airshow. It's difficult to film with a steady hand over such a distance. I hope it doesn't bother you too much. Enjoy!

Friday Video: The F-16C Overview

This video is not about great production values or awesome footage, but it does give a great systems overview of the F-16C Fighting Falcon. Ignore the narration and corny music, it's got great content.

Friday Video: Hornet Driver

Sweet video with tons of great action from the cockpit. You'll love it.

Video: B-2 Bomber Crash

Back in the 1990's I worked at Northrop on the B-2A Stealth Bomber. I suppose with every platform you know there will be attrition, but that fact doesn't make watching this billion dollar bomber go up in flames any easier.

Fast forward the video to the 2:00 minute mark to see the crash aircraft. The first aircraft that takes off is fine... it's the second one that crashes.

Friday Video: F-18 Cat Shot Off Carrier

Check out what it's like to get shot off a Navy carrier in an F-18. Notice the pilot doesn't touch the stick until after airborne. The flight control system automatically rotates the aircraft to takeoff angle of attack (10-18 degrees). Gotta love computer flying!

Friday Video: F-4 Phantom vs Concrete Wall

Ever wonder what would happen to a fighter jet if it slammed into a nuclear powerplant? Check out this crazy video and find out!

Friday Video: The F-35 JSF

The F-35 JSF is the next front-line fighter for the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. Check it out.

Friday Video: Blue Angel High Speed Low Pass

Check this out. Here's a few shots of Blue Angel solo pilots doing high-speed low passes in San Francisco bay. Absolutely awesome.

Friday Video: Harrier Low Pass

I don't know what it is, but I love watching low pass fighter jet fly-bys. This one is particularly funny because the guy they put up says "I won't flinch"

Watch and see if he flinches...

Friday Video: Flight From KPIE St Petersburg International With A Cessna 172 G1000

Last Saturday I went flying locally (KPIE St Petersburg International) in a Cessna 172SP with a Garmin 1000 avionics suite. This was a actually a gift flight from my precious wife for my birthday. How nice is that?

The video is a quick shot of us taking off. You can see some of the avionics panels in the video. Let's just say I was stunned by the G1000. If I ever buy a plane, the G1000 is a must purchase. One feature that made my mouth drop open was the real-time traffic display. This amazing system actually displays other aircraft as white diamonds with direction lines and altitude. It will even announce traffic conflict warnings. At times, I felt I was flying a fighter jet.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the C-172SP. The plane had leather seats, airbags, XM satellite radio, and flew like a dream.

Here are a couple of pictures from the flight. There nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how beautiful Clearwater Florida can be.
